A New Recipe for an Old Voice
Boasting a new body design, new neck joint, new bracing, and a new aesthetic. Taylor's Gold Label Collection reveals a stunning old-heritage sound that's unlike anything Taylor has ever produced. Crafted with innovative new ideas to produce an older, vintage-inspired sound, the Gold Label 814e Koa-SB complements its sonic richness and complexity with a stylish sunburst finish.
The Gold Label Collection draws inspiration from flattop acoustic guitars from the 1930s and ’40s, whose warm, woody sound and open, sweet character came to define generations of music.
This model features the new Super Auditorium body shape, similar to the well-known Grand Auditorium but with slightly wider contours that, along with a new fanned V-Class bracing variant, help it generate greater power while remaining focused and clear at any volume. The projection is powerful without being overbearing, the bottom end is present in a way not normally heard on a Taylor, and the top end shimmers just as you would expect. Simply put, it sounds amazing.
Back and sides of beautifully figured Hawaiian koa combine with a specially roasted Sitka spruce top to yield a lush midrange character with remarkable low-end presence along with the boosts to volume and sustain that come with the V-Class architecture. Adding to the package of innovations is a new long-tenon neck joint that improves the transfer of vibration to boost resonance while also improving adjustability.
Visually, the Gold Label 814e Koa-SB is dressed to impress with antique chrome Gotoh 510 tuners with ebony buttons, Continental inlays, a new pickguard design, grained ivoroid edge trim and a full-body gloss finish.
This model includes LR Baggs Element VTC electronics for warm, balanced amplified sound and ships with a deluxe hardshell case featuring a British Cocoa exterior.
This is the first Gold Label guitar we've received, and we were blown away. This new design by Taylor is a "gamechanger", a term we try not to use - but that's what it is.
