Paddle ashore to the tone of the finest rare Les Paul Custom Shop Catalina in Cascade Green! This is a rare guitar from 1997 that brings you everything that you'd expect from a Les Paul but with even more premium appointments.
You still get the combination of excellent tonewoods with a solid single-cut mahogany body and maple top? It is beautifully finished with a Cascade Green finish that is one of the rarest finishes Gibson has made. You definitely won't see many of these out there. There is a bound headstock with a beautiful and unique Les Paul Custom Shop inlay and Gibson logo pearl inlay. The bound mahogany neck has a 59-style shape with a compound radius and an ebony fingerboard with pearl inlays. This Custom Shop Les Paul has a nitro finish that will only improve its tone over time.
This instrument is from the personal collection of the late Brad Pie who played guitar in the 1990’s with the great Johnny Otis. Along with Johnny’s sons - Shuggie Otis (Guitar) and Nicky Otis (Drums) - Brad contributed guitar to the 1992 Grammy-Nominated “Spirits of the Black Territory Bands” by the Johnny Otis & His Orchestra group. Many of the instruments from Brad’s collection are uniquely modified.
This particular Les Paul features player upgrades when it comes to its electronics. The pickups have been upgraded with PRS Santana humbucking pickups. There is a PRS Santana III Bass in the neck and a PRS Santana Treble in the bridge (uncovered). These pickups provide a sweet range of tone, power, and punch with plenty of sustain. They are great for clean and really shine with with gain.
There are some more player upgrades with customized knobs and chrome straplocks. You still get the classic nickel hardware with stopbar tailpiece and tune-o-matic bridge and Gotoh tuners. As an added bonus, a matching green strap is included in the original hardshell case. It's the complete outfit!
This guitar is in good condition - the body is super clean; the headstock was broken in transit but has been fixed. We did the work here, with our best tech in the shop making the repair, and he did a great job. So while it can be seen, it cannot be felt. The guitar has been setup to play perfectly. It's ready to impress.
