We don't see a lot of Custom Shop Esquires, which is exactly why when it came time to do staff picks, this was one of the first designs done.  We're guessing that you haven't seen one like this - we sure haven't!

The Staff Picks Series is something we just started doing here.  It's where everyone - the sales team, repair techs, shipping guys, etc. - all get to design their own Fender Custom Shop guitar for Truetone.  This is a fun thing that everyone takes part in, and the end result is that we get a wide variety of guitars that we wouldn't have otherwise.  This one is a great example.  It was designed by Mark Pritchard, a longtime veteran of Truetone that has a love for vintage guitars and unique builds.

The Esquire was the first solid-body guitar sold by Fender, debuting in 1950.  Shortly after its introduction, a two-pickup version came out, was renamed the Broadcaster, then the Telecaster.  Over the years, many players have fallen in love with the simplicity of the Esquire, and the Fender Custom Shop has done an amazing job in recreating this 1959 version.

It's an NOS finish, so there's no aging or wear whatsoever - this is brand new, sparkly and shiny.  With a finish like this, we wouldn't dare to relic it.  Mark went for Seafoam Green Sparkle, knowing that the guitar would stand out like no other.  We love how the finish was done - they really got it right.  For an added touch, we made this one an Esquire Custom with a double-bound body.  The outcome is stunning.

The guitar is unbelievably resonant and smooth playing.  The ash body is super light (the guitar weighs in at just 6.7 lbs).  It has an easy playing '59 Esquire "C" neck shape, and a modern radius (9.5") and narrow tall frets on the dark AAA rosewood fretboard.  He chose this neck shape due to its comfortable grip - while it has a vintage feel, it's not too thick. Some call it the perfect "in between" neck. The 59 Esquire C shape is becoming more popular, as it's a similar carve to the 60's Oval C seen on so many Custom Shop guitars, but with a little more "beef" to it.  If you're a fan of vintage neck shapes, this is a great way to go.

In terms of sound, it's simple: there's one pickup, and it's a Custom Shop 56/57 bridge pickup.  It will give you full clarity, with enough bite to cut through the mix. The pickup has Alnico 5 magnets, the twang is ever-present, and the ability to smooth out cleanly makes this a surprisingly versatile guitar.  This guitar's secret weapon is the Full-Throttle Esquire wiring that bypasses all controls in Position 1, going straight to the jack for hot-rodded, no-holds-barred solo tone.

Other features include a bone nut, vintage clay dots and a bridge that allows you to choose between top loading or stringing through the body.  The guitar comes with a tweed case, strap and Certificate of Authenticity.

Come to Truetone Music today to experience the guitar in person, or order right here to be shipped to your home.  You won't be disappointed.
