We are excited to present a great vintage example of an amazing Jazzmaster with the coolest of vibes. Up for sale is this 1959 Jazzmaster, with its own special story.  First, about the model itself.....

When Fender first announced it at the 1958 NAMM show, the Jazzmaster was initially advertised as incorporating "all Fender developments" with multiple amenities. Built for luxurious playing, the offset design was a major departure from traditional boxy archtops. The model wasn't embraced by the jazz crowd, but it did find favor with others, from surf to country, to 80's indie rock to 90's alternative, and in this century, is a mainstay in the guitar world.

This Jazzmaster is from 1959, making it one of the earliest.  The color is rather unique, with a chocolate tint to the 3-Tone Sunburst, which has aged gracefully over the decades.  An alder body, maple neck and Brazilian rosewood fretboard compose the guitar, with the original tuners, bridge, tremolo and pickups all intact.  It's super comfortable to play, with a nice C neck profile, and has a very resonant body.  Even unplugged, it sounds great.  Once amplified, the pickups really shine - they have the sparkle and twang when needed and also are very suitable for smooth, warm lines.

The guitar is all original (including the case), with the exception of an excellent refret done by Truetone’s very own Paul Flynn.  Now here's where the story gets even more interesting: the guitar has been owned by Los Straitjackets guitarist Danny Amis since 1995.

Used live and in the studio, for the most part this was a recording guitar and utilized on a variety of Los Straitjackets albums, including "Viva! Los Straitjackets”, "The Velvet Touch of Los Straitjackets” and "Tis the Season for Los Straitjackets”.  In fact, it was the main guitar on all of the songs on those albums, including Pacifica, Espionage, Rockula, and Hornets Nest.

For a nice vintage touch, the original hang tag from 1965 is included.  This unique instrument also comes with a signed Certificate of Authenticity, signed Los Straitjackets CDs (the 3 mentioned above that the guitar was used on), custom guitar picks, and Danny’s personal wrestling mask that he wore on many stages!

For those of you wondering why the mask, here's the answer:  At the band's first gig, Danny Amis, a fan of Luchador films, suggested the members wear masks he had purchased in Mexico. The crowd went wild, and a tradition was born.  For over 3 decades now, Los Straitjackets has been performing that way, adding to an incredible stage show.  When we took this guitar in from Danny, we knew we had to have a mask for it to complete the package.

The guitar has been vetted by our vintage expert, setup to play perfectly, and is in great shape, especially considering its age.  While of course there's player wear on the guitar, it's nothing major.  You'd be hard pressed  to find a first generation Jazzmaster better than this.

Any vintage Fender guitar is special, but a Jazzmaster like this from 1959 is something else - and belonging to Danny Amis of Los Straitjackets is an entirely different level of collectibility.  There's only one of these out there, and it's right here.
