The One That Started It All

The Custom 24 is the quintessential PRS guitar. This iconic instrument was the first model that Paul Reed Smith brought to the public at PRS Guitars’ first Winter NAMM show in 1985 and has been a top seller ever since. Played by internationally touring artists, gigging musicians, and aspiring players, the Custom 24 features PRS’s patented Gen III tremolo system and PRS 85/15 pickups with volume and tone controls and a 5-way blade switch.   The Pattern Thin neck has a slim profile that will be easy to play all nicght long.

The 85/15 pickups were personally designed by Paul Reed Smith to offer remarkable clarity and extended high and low end.  These uncovered pickups provide remarkable clarity and extended high and low end, perfect for more modern applications.

For 2024, PRS Guitars update the tuning machines on many of the Core guitars. While, aesthetically, our new Wing buttons are designed to echo the 12th fret bird wingspan design, they were first and foremost designed for tonal reasons all the way back in 1982. Because these buttons are lighter weight than their metal predecessors, they are subtracting less energy from the vibrating strings, thus helping the guitar ring longer and at a more musical note.

This particular guitar is one of the coolest looking Custom 24's we've had here - the finish is called Purple Mist, and it's stunning.  The wood grain comes through quite nicely, and it's obviously that PRS picked a winner of a flame maple top for this one.  We were blown away when it landed here.

The Custom 24 is the original PRS. Since its introduction, it has offered a unique tonal option for serious players and defined PRS tone and playability.
