The year is 1964, The Beatles make their big US debut, this fantastic Guild Starfire III was made in Hoboken, NJ and at the end of the year, a young Jerry Garcia purchased one of these to play in his band "The Warlocks", which would later become the great Grateful Dead!
This vintage Guild Starfire III is a hollow-body masterpiece! It is a resonant thin hollow body with an arched laminated mahogany top and back with laminate mahogany sides with classic "F" holes. The body is wonderfully bounded and this one being a vintage has aged perfectly. This Guild has a mahogany neck with super comfortable thin '60s neck profile with 20 frets with a rosewood fingerboard with classic dot inlays.
You get a pair of original Guild humbuckers, which give you robust tones perfect for thick clean tones or crank up some drive with some hollow body nuisances. These pickups are slightly smaller than Gibson humbuckers but larger then the mini-humbuckers giving you a unique set of tones. You have plenty of control over your sound with individual Volume and Tone controls with a 3-way pickup selector.
The hardware is another star for this Starfire III is its Bigsby tremolo system. This vintage tremolo system is expressive and the bridge is rock-solid. You get all the vintage appointments including the original distantly-shaped black pickguard.
This guitar is in great condition especially for its age and it comes with its original hardshell case. It's been setup to play perfectly by the techs in our shop and is ready for the next 60 years!
