Pre Owned Collings OM1A Natural With Amulet True Stereo Guitar Pickup System With OHSC
Have we a got a Collings for you! Here is a Collings OM1A in Natural, from the early 2000's, and is a great find.
This acoustic guitar is the “Orchestra Model” a very popular body shape. This guitar has a more compact body design that is 14-frets to the body. This body size is perfect for fingerpicking and flatpicking alike. You get punchy mids, articulate highs, and tight low end response. The body has the perfect combination of Adirondack spruce and mahogany back and sides. The tone is rich and balanced across tonal specturm. The mahogany neck has a comfortable Modified V neck profile with 20 frets. It's easy to play and really is a guitar that you won't want to put down.
Aesthetically, this OM1A has some very nice features. This guitar has tortoise body binding and butt wedge, black/white/black/white top purfling, a walnut backstrip, dot fingerboard inlays, and a simpler 1-style rosette.
As an added bonus, this acoustic comes with a Trance Audio Amulet True Stereo Guitar pickup system that transforms this to an exceptional acoustic electric guitar. An internal stereo preamp boosts the signal at the guitar and outputs a low impedance signal, allowing long cable runs without loss of fidelity. The compact control unit at the other end of the cable presents a stereo or mono signal to your mixer or amplifier. It is designed with the criteria of super-wide dynamic range, extremely low noise and distortion, flexibility and reliability. Simply put, it's one of the best systems out there.
This Collings OM1A is in good shape but does have a lot of wear. By no means is it perfectly clean (and price reflect that). There are marks on the body and neck. Also, there is a slight crack on the bottom, which can be seen directly in one of the photos. We've inspected this carefully and had our techs check it out closely - there is no structural damage. The crack has been there for years, and not expanded, and is not expected to expand more either. We feel comfortable selling the guitar as is - and for those that know us, we are cautious of this. Thankfully the issues seen end up being cosmetic only, but of course we wanted to discuss it all here in the name of full transparency.
The guitar has been setup to play perfectly by the techs in our shop and comes with its original hardshell case. For those that know the quality of Collings, they know that something like this, at this price, is a great find!
