We just took in a unique Fender Custom Shop build - this is amazing '56 Strat, full of flame, vibe and tone. This is one that we spec'ed out here, and now it's back again, available on the market for the first time. There's a lot going on with this one so dig in and dig it!
The first thing you'll notice is the stunning AAA Flame Maple top, over a Roasted Alder Body. It's finished in nitrocellulose lacquer, just as it should be. The color is Violin Burst, which is rarely seen - which is surprising, as it's beautiful. The thin transparent finish really lets the flame show nicely. This was done as an NOS (New Old Stock) build, so there's no aging. The previous owner only had it for a few months, so it's super clean, barely played, and in like new condition.

The next thing you'll notice (or perhaps the first) is the Roasted AAA Flame Maple neck. The Custom Shop pieced out a really eye-catching piece of maple for this one, which is really accented nicely by the roasting process. It's not just about looks - this Strat plays like a dream. It has a very comfortable Modern "C" profile that is slim but still provides a nice grip. It's great no matter the style, but especially for lead work with a 9.5 - 12.0" compound radius and Medium Jumbo frets. Play fast, with a lot of bending - this one can handle it.
As an added bonus, the build was done with the request for a contoured neck heel - so you have easy access to the higher register. This is a nice feature - a lot of players don't know how great it is until they've played a Strat with it.
Here's a unique combination of pickups: a Fat 50's in the neck, a '69 Strat in the middle (Reverse Wound Reverse Polarity for reduced noise) and a Seymour Duncan SSL-5 in the bridge. Some would say that it's the ultimate overwound Strat single coil pickup, found in the bridge position of the David Gilmour Stratocaster. It strikes a great balance between increased output and classic Stratocaster tonal character. It will deliver bigger, fatter chords, and will cut through the mix more clearly than a traditional Strat pickup, all the while maintaining the magic and mojo that make a Strat sound like a Strat. Single notes are bold and loud, and solos truly sing.
The guitar also features an S-1 switch, so you have the ability to bring in the neck pickup in positions 2 & 4. It's been a popular mod for Strat players for years, and here's one with it ready to go!
Other features include a 2 Point Custom Classic Strat tremolo, Schaller locking tuners, a bone nut, and white pearl pickguard. It comes with the original deluxe tweed hardshell case, strap, and certificate of authenticity.
This Custom Shop '56 Strat is really something else - they knocked it out of the park with this one. It has been setup to play perfectly by the techs in our shop, and is ready to find its next home, which we think it will quite quickly!
