Fender Custom Shop Exotic 1962 Telecaster Custom Ziricote NOS Natural

We at Truetone Music are always looking to come up with something you haven't seen before, especially when in partnership with Fender.  For this take on a classic 60's era Tele, we went a step further - going to the Custom Shop in Corona, CA to hand select the wood for an exclusive run of guitars.  We were escorted into the wood vault, to go through their finest collection of wood spreads.  From that, we designed a batch of 15 guitars that are all one of a kind.  Within that, there is only one Telecaster Custom, and this is it.

 

We are excited to present this guitar - and before we say anything else, we'll pause here so that you can check out the photos.

 

The roasted Alder body is topped with a gorgeous Ziricote top - that's the main calling card of this guitar.  The NOS lacquer finish in Natural allows the wood grain to really show, especially with parchment binding to frame the body perfectly.  The final result blew us away when it landed.  Ziricote is one of the most visually grabbing woods that you'll see on a guitar, and we hand-picked this piece for the unique grain.  Even though every spread presented was great, this one in particular stood out as the winner. 

Another feature that you'll be sure to notice is the roasted maple neck.  The 60's Oval "C" neck shape is super comfortable, and is capped with a beautiful piece of AAA rosewood for the fretboard (sorted to to find the darkest piece on hand).  This guitar has the modern preference of a 9.5" radius and 6105 frets, making it easy to play.  

We chose classic '63 Telecaster pickups to give it the vintage sound that is beloved by Tele players everywhere.  The bridge pickup provides punchy mids and hot highs for that classic Tele twang, with staggered pole pieces to even out the inter-string response.  The neck neck pickup provides a warm and creamy tone. We love this set for any Tele, and are a no-brainer for a guitar like this.

Also, this one is ligh - it comes in at just 7.5 lbs.  Other features include a vintage early 60's style bridge, vintage tuners, clay dots on the fretboard, and a bone nut.  The guitar comes with a special blonde Custom Shop case, strap and Certificate of Authenticity. 

We haven't seen a Tele with a Ziricote top quite like this before - it's truly stunning.  We picked the coolest looking piece Fender had at the time, which was earmarked specifically for this guitar.
