Used And Vintage Amps

A Fender Princeton is one of the most popular combo amps of all time, and we are fortunate to see a lot of vintage ones come through here.  Typically, they are from the mid-to-late 60's, or the 70's.  What we rarely see are the early 60's models.  When we do, it's a special thing - and this is a special amp right here.  We are proud to present this super clean, nearly all original 1962 Princeton.

The "brownface" Fender Princeton Amp of the early 1960s has been a super desirable amp that is hard to find.  You rarely see them out there, as not many were made before evolving.  Created as a refresh to both the cosmetics and circuitry of the '50s-era Princetons, the brownface amps were designed for more power, with a dual-6V6 output putting out 12 watts.  The simplified control layout has become more and more popular over the years.  The most important thing is the tone: characteristics of the older tweed Fender amps and the later blackface amps are both present, giving the brownface amps a unique sound that is only found in this era.  They can sound great clean, but also breakup easily for a great dirty sound.  The tremolo is lush, with a depth only found on amps like this.  The circuit is actually a direct descendent of the tweed Vibrolux, in a different cabinet and speaker.  It's a unique sound and there's a reason why Chris Stapleton had it re-created for his signature model amp.  The moment we plugged this one in, we were blown away by how "right" it sounded.

This amp is all original, other than the handle (common) and power cord (a good move).  The tolex and the grill cloth are in great shape.  While there are other '62 Princetons out there, there aren't many this clean.  Please view the attached photos; if other photos are needed, please contact us.  The amp has been vetted and tested to perfect working order.  Obviously, this is a vintage amp, and all things with condition, reliability and other associated quirks must be considered.  But, it's lived a long life of 6 decades (literally, 60 years!) and held up through the test of time.  We see this one as lasting a lot longer.

This '62 Princeton is a piece of Fender history, from the early days of the company in Fullerton, CA.  Come to Truetone Music to hear for yourself, or order right here for the amp to be expertly packed and safely shipped to your home.
