Used Charvel Charvette HSS Black Made in Japan with OHSC
When Truetone Music recently moved locations after 25 years, a lot of dust was kicked up. Emerging from that cloud was a very cool guitar that hadn't seen the light of day in quite a few years. After a few phones calls and some time on our tech's bench, we now can present this killer Charvel Charvette. Based on what we could find, this one was made in 1989, the first year of the Charvette. What else was came out in 1989? Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure. Need we say more?
For those that know, the Japanese made Charvette is a great find - especially for those that are looking for a piece of Charvel history on an affordable budget. Derided by some but loved by others, the Charvette has taken on a cult status. They were only made for a couple of years, mostly in Korea, but there are a small amount of Japanese versions, which is what this is. Even with that distinction, there are multiple models - this is the HSS (Charvel USA pickups), 2 knobs and a selector switch, a standard (non-reverse) headstock, in gloss Black.
The guitar shreds as expected and sounds better than expected. Our resident rock/metal guitar expert did all of the work on it and dialed it in perfectly. It plays like a dream. The original bridge was missing pieces, so we retrofitted it with an all Floyd Rose 1000 series tremolo. We also put new pressure screws on the locking nut. The rest of the hardware is original, as are the pickups. Also included is the original branded hardshell case, which you rarely see. Overall, the guitar is in great condition - there's some "honest player wear" on the body, as to be expected, but it barely shows up with this finish. The neck and frets are in great shape.
This is an excellent find at an excellent price - it's the complete package and ready to party!
