IMPECCABLE CRAFTSMANSHIP
The Gretsch Custom Shop is where the time-honored legacy reaches its creative apex. No instruments epitomize the extraordinary expertise and attention to detail of Gretsch’s most trusted hands like Custom Shop instruments. From modern versions of legendary Gretsch instruments to artist tribute models and specially requested one-off guitars, the Gretsch Custom Shop takes “That Great Gretsch Sound” to an entirely new plane, but also preserves and perfects it.
Truetone Music is proud to have a long and close relationship with Gretsch, especially with the Custom Shop. Every year, we make a pilgrimage there to sit down with Masterbuilders to cook up a batch of Custom Shop guitars. Sometimes we go for vintage-styled recreations, sometimes we go for modernized tweaks. Sometimes it's a classic color, sometimes it's a totally new color or even reclaimed wood. Either way, they always knock it out of the park!
This G6130CS 1954 Roundup Relic is a a result of this partnership. Originally designed with the legendary Stephen Stern, we've kept this build going after his retirement. Put simply, it's too cool not to!
This guitar is a reimagining of a classic mid-50's model, with a tasteful relic treatment to give it the perfect vintage vibe. The "C" shaped mahogany neck with dark rosewood is a pleasure to play. The mahogany body is resonant - this guitar really sings. Most impressive is the Knotty Pine top and and studded leather belt edge wrap. It's the sort of thing you'll only find on a Gretsch.
The Seymour Duncan Dyno-Sonic pickups (Stern's suggestion) give it the classic Gretsch sound. Faithfully recreated with the right materials, the pickups feature a thick Alnico 5 bar magnet, which magnetizes the steel spacer between itslef and the bobbin, then through a single row of adjustable pole pieces. The result is big and glassy, with a brightness that really helps the guitar shine. It's Seymour Duncan's way to pay homage to the original rockabilly tone with their own take on the legendary DynaSonic pickup. Wound a slightly different way to add more high-end sparkle and output, the Seymour Duncan DynaSonic will help augment delicately finger-picked rhythms and flat picked solos.
Other features of this guitar include a engarved block inlays, the iconic belt buckle tailpiece, and an engraved pickguard. The guitar comes with a Custom Shop case, special El Dorado strap, and Certificate of Authenticity.
This is a unique take a on a highly sought-after guitar, and a rare find. Come to Truetone Music to experience it in person, or make it yours right here.
