Vintage 1976 Ampeg SVT Curved Line Bass Amp Head With Road Case
You need a bass amp that really shows off the power of your low end with vintage tones? Then here is the classic Ampeg SVT Bass Amp Head from 1976. There's not much out there that changed the bass world like the SVT, and this prime example gives you exactly what you expect, want and love about old school bass amps.
300 watts. Tube tones. 2 channels. The ability to throw down and stay down. The SVT will give you all of that, and then some. Ampeg absolutely nailed it with these, and many bass players know great this particular era is. Some would say the Curved Line amps are amongst the best bass amps ever made. After plugging this in, we see why.
This SVT head is in good condition, especially considering it's age and use (no one bought these for the bedroom, they bought it for the stage). When the amp came to us, we went straight to our amp tech, the legendary guru Greg Leon. He then gave it a full vetting, cleaning and repair job, making it tip-top. Here's what he did:
- Replaced 9-pin mini 12AX7 socket, 5 Ohm 5w Plate Resistor, .01 mF Cap, 80 mF 500v filter cap, and (2) 12AU7 tubes
- Cleaned all controls, tested all tubes, diodes, resistors, caps, connectors, voltages.
- Re-soldered each preamp connection and most of the power section connections.
After the better of a full day of working on it, Greg had this amp good to go!
