Used And Vintage Electric Guitars

This modified, out of this world, insane instrument is so unique, so unconventional that it even received a write up in Premier Guitars’ “Reader Mods” column!  So what makes this instrument so cool?

Well, the guitar is a 2002 American Telecaster, a true player.  That's how it started life, but it evolved into something even more special.  It was purchased twice with the intent of modifying - the previous owner took the original silver finish and added an extra layer clear coat - then the second owner (whom we got the guitar from) decided to make it a project that went the extra mile.

The first thing he had done was to have it professionally refinished in black sparkle.  That's the color you see on the guitar now, and it's truly stunning.    The way that it came out is quite different than other sparkle finishes we've seen.  There's a lot of "grain" to it, in that it almost looks like black sand.  It's a very mystical looking finish.  Check out the photographs and you'll see what we're saying.  To top it off, the guitar was given a matching headstock, which is a great touch.  And, if that wasn't enough, he also put on a super cool custom pickguard that really stands out (a white pearl pickguard is included in the case).

It's not just about the looks though - after all, it's about how it sounds in the end.  This guitar was modified with killer pickups and switching capability.  He installed Seymour Duncan Hot Rails (STHR-1b in the bridge position and STHR-1n in the neck position),  and wired it with a push-pull tone knob to split between Single & Humbucker sounds.

The Hot Rails pickup set will enhance any Telecaster, creating an aggressive and powerful sound with high-output humbuckers. The Lead pickup features a ceramic magnet, dual steel blades, and over wound coils for a raw and heavy tone with impressive sustain. Its rich midrange harmonics and tight low end are perfect for adding crunch to any rock style. The matching Rhythm pickup offers a full, warm humbucker tone in a compact size that easily fits into the stock pickup slot. It delivers a smooth sound for rhythm playing and fat single notes for lead work.

It doesn't end there.  To round it out the guitar has a Fender branded Bigsby tremolo, a Mastery bridge, Spertzel locking tuners black strap locks and jack plate.  And, finally, a super unique custom control plate helps to set this guitar apart.

A hardshell case is included as well.  The guitar has been setup to play perfectly by the techs in our shop, and is in great condition.

What more can we say?  There's a lot going on with this guitar, and it's one of the most unique we've had in some time.  If you're into one of a kind Telecasters, especially ones with a Bigsby and Hot Rails pickups, you've just found your choice cake, so it's time to dive in!
