This is an exclusive prototype designed by Taylor and world famous Grammy nominated songwriter/producer Linda Perry. It is one of 3 ever made. In the world of rare finds, this is one of the rarest!
Where did this guitar come from? We are lucky to count local legend Eli Pearl as a friend and customer, who happens to have been Linda's main guitarist on most of her sessions since 2013, having played on everything she's done from Dolly Parton
to Bono. Linda has worked with and used Taylor guitars for quite some time and a little while back she designed this guitar. They sent her 3 prototypes; this is #3. The guitar has barely been played, and according to Eli, he only used it on a few cues for a film score.

The deeper story of this guitar was featured in a recent edition of Wood & Steel, Taylor's own magazine. Here's the scoop:
"In conversation with Taylor Director of Artist Relations Tim Godwin one day, Perry asked if Taylor would make her a custom version of her 717e with a different pickup system, modeled after the acoustic/electric guitar (a Martin D-18e) famously played by Kurt Cobain during Nirvana’s MTV Unplugged concert. (The guitar had been outfitted with electric pickups and featured front-mounted tone knobs, like on a solidbody electric guitar.) Tim relayed the request to Andy Powers, who agreed to make her one. Custom features include a neck pickup designed by Andy and mounted across the soundhole, along with our behind-the-saddle ES2 pickup. David Judd from the product development team assembled and wound the pickups and configured the electronics to enable the two different pickups to work in the same circuit. He also installed the soundboard-mounted volume and tone control knobs. As a finishing detail, Perry’s initials were inlaid into the pickguard."
We've had a lot of Taylor guitars here, but none like this, of course. Not only is highly collectible, it also sounds absolutely amazing. It has all of the characterics of a great acoustic that Taylor is known for, but it also has the custom electronics as described above. That makes it truly unique.
The guitar is in perfect condition, and has been setup to play perfectly by the techs in our repair shop. It comes with the original hardshell case, which is also quite unique itself - check out the photos. This is definitely the only one of these guitars that we'll ever have, so get it before it's gone.
