Vintage 1966/65 Guild T1-RVT Thunder 1 Reverb Guitar Amp Combo
We just took in a super cool piece of the 60's, a classic Guild T1-RVT Thunder 1 Reverb. Rarely seen and highly sought after, tube amps like this represent the "affordable vintage" category. These were only made from 1965 to around 1972. Guild made two versions, the 1x12 combo with tremolo and no reverb (the Guild T1) and the 1x12, 1x8 combo with reverb and tremolo (Guild T1-RVT).
The amp uses 2 6GW8 output tubes, which are a triode and a pentode in one tube, and puts out about 12 watts. These are great sounding hifi tubes, mainly from the 60's lower powered stereos, but sound really good in a guitar amp. This powers the original Oxford 12" speaker. The tremolo is amazing as well and the heavy cast original footswitch, being permanently attached is still there.
It as a button switch in the back of the amp which is believed to be a polarity switch. Also, the volume knob has a “pull” boost. Both of these are original to the amp. The trem works and sounds great. The reverb is barely there (as is the case with so most of the old Guild reverb tanks on these models).
The amp is in very good condition, especially considering it's age. All original.
