PRS Private Stock McCarty 594 Rainforest Glow With Case

PRS's Private Stock program originated in 1996 to bring Paul's unique instrument designs to life outside of traditional manufacturing methods. Every guitar is carefully conceived and built with a “one-off” mentality.  All Private Stock woods are carefully housed in “The Vault” just outside of Paul’s office.  Finish is the moment where an instrument takes on much of its personality.  The process is proven to highlight the elegance and figure of the woods chosen.  Inlay is another part of the Private Stock process with nearly infinite options and combinations, as a way to personalize the instrument.  From those materials to the top-shelf pickups and hardware, a Private Stock guitar represents the ultimate in craftsmanship and quality, as well as collectibility.

This PRS Private Stock McCarty 594 (serial # PS11102) is a perfect example.  Truetone Music designed this guitar with PRS to bring something unique to the offering.  We knew it would be amazing, but when it landed, we were blown away.

The Curly Maple top has a Rainforest Glow finish that really stands out.  The 3D effect of the wood grain comes through in the photos but is even better in person.   We actually added a note on the initial order, saying "Please choose the wild-craziest looking top".  And they did!  We've seen some impressive tops from PRS but this one may be the best we've had.  The rest of the body is Black Limba.  You don't see this often, and when the opportunity to have access to some with exotic figuring, we had to grab it.  We also extended that to the neck, so the entire back of the guitar matches.  The fretboard is Curly Maple, which is something you don't see very often.  This extends to the headstock.  All around, it's great look, with the highest quality of woods.

To complete the aesthetic, we with with some rather unique inlays for the neck and headstock.  PRS aficionados will recognize the Original Birds style and the Old School Eagle.  We had them done in Maple, stained to match the top, with a Black Mother of Pearl accent.  Other nice touches we added were a Maple truss rod cover to match the fretboard, and Black Limba back plates to perfectly match the back of the body.

The neck has a Pattern Vintage profile, fitting for a McCarty 594, and is very comfortable.  The 22-fret fretobard has a 10" radius, encouraging easy bending.  You'll stay in tune with Tweaked Phase III Locking tuners (Ebony buttons) and a PRS Two-Piece bridge.  Of course the guitar is setup to play perfectly.

We chose the PRS 58/15 LT (“low turn”) pickups, which are vintage-inspired with exceptional clarity. Designed to capture the sweetness of vintage single coils and the warmth of late 1950’s humbuckers, these pickups are lively and open with focused midrange and balanced treble and bass.  Utilizing PRS's TCI (Tuned Capacitance and Inductance) technology, the response of a pickup can be precisely shaped and sculpted with unmatched sonic accuracy. The 58/15 LT pickups offer a slightly milder output compared to traditional 58/15, producing a great representation of the classic humbucker design.

Other features include Ivory pickup rings, Black Lampshade knobs, and a Bone nut.  The guitar comes with a beautiful Black Paisley case, and includes a certificate of authenticity.
